There are a lot of great six month CD rates around right now. The best annual percentage yield (APY) for the best 6 month CD rates is at Ascencia (PBI Bank) in Kentucky, with a 1.76% APY and a $500 minimum deposit requirement.

UFBDirect.com has a 1.75% APY but requires a $8,000 minimum deposit while First Century Bank (Georgia) as a $10,000 minimum deposit requirement with the same APY.

The next best 6 month CD rates are at State Bank of India (New York) with a 1.71% APY and a $5,000 minimum deposit requirement, followed by New Dominion Direct with a 1.67% APY and a $3,000 minimum deposit requirement.

Soon after that, six month CD rates at Ally Bank are 1.65% APY with no deposit minimum and E-Loan (California) with the same APY, but requiring a $10,000 minimum deposit.

6 month CD rates at Nexity Bank (Alabama) are 1.61% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit. OneWest Bank (California) has a 1.60% APY as does Corus Bank (Illinois), with a $5,000 and $10,000 minimum deposit requirement respectively.

There are a lot of place to turn to get the best 6 month CD rates, depending on what you prefer in a bank and whether you absolutely must have the best rates. Luckily, that top offer from Ascencia requires only $500, so minimum deposit isn’t a restriction this time. That’s an unusual opportunity.
