Banks with Consistently Good CD Rates
The banks with consistently good CD rates have been the national banks. These are available to anyone living in the US. The only financial institutions that can compete with them are the local credit unions because of the way their business is structured.
EverBank is one such national bank. This financial institution pledges to always have their CD rates in the top 5% of any major bank in America. This bank is based out of Jacksonville Florida, but any resident of the US can obtain a CD from them via the internet and with a wire transfer. Currently they are offering a 5 year CD at an APY of 3.30%, a 3 year CD at 2.27% APY, a 1 year CD at 1.40% APY and a 3 month CD at 0.85% APY. These rates were posted on April 16, 2010 and require a minimum deposit of $1,500.
The Discovery Bank is another national bank that has consistently good CD rates. At the present time they are offering a 10 year CD at 3.60% APY, a 7 year CD at 3.30% APY, a 5 year CD at 3.00% APY, a 4 year CD at 2.45% APY, a 3 year CD at 2.30% APY, a 30 month CD at 2.10% APY, a 2 year CD at 2.00% APY, a 18 month CD at 1.70% APY, a 1 year CD at 1.50% APY, a 9 and 6 month CD at 1.25% APY and a 3 month CD at 0.65% APY. These rates were posted on April 13, 2010 and are still current on April 16, 2010 with a minimum deposit of $2,500.
Other financial institutions that you may wish to look at are Ally Bank, American Bank, BankDirect, First National Bank of Baldwin and Intervest National Bank. The banks with consistently good CD rates have their CD rates consistently at the top of the list for at least the last eight quarters.
