For this reason anyone can join this credit union. There is a onetime membership fee of $1.00 along with a minimum $25.00 for the first deposit.
The CD Rates for this and every credit union are referred to as Shared Certificates (SC). Melrose CU has 5 different term SC they offer their members. The 1 year SC has an interest rate of 1.75% and an APY of 1.76%. The 2 year SC has an interest rate of 2.00% and an APY of 2.02%. The 3 year SC has an interest rate of 2.50% and an APY of 2.52%. The 4 year SC has an interest rate of 2.75% and an APY of 2.78%. The 5 year SC has an interest rate of 3.25% and an APY of 3.29%.
The minimum deposit for a SC is $5000. Each of these SC rates was posted on June 30, 2010 and was still effective on August 12, 2010. Since this is a CU, the FDIC does not cover the funds on deposit. But they are insured by the NCUA, the National Credit Union Administration which is a US governmental agency.
