Here are some Florida certificate of deposit rates currently being offered. These rates come in the form of 5 year CDs since longer maturities typically generate the best interest rates. These rates are from institutions that you may find in the Sunshine State’s major cities.
Out of Jacksonville, Jax Metro Credit Union’s 5 year or 60 month CD requires a minimum deposit and daily balance of $500 to earn APY. For its members, it has a dividend or interest rate of 3.25% with an APY of 3.30%. Dividends are calculated by the daily balance method that applies a daily periodic rate to the balance on the account each day. Dividends will be compounded and credited every month. If you close your account before dividends are paid, you will not receive the accrued dividends. This rate was posted 3/11/2010 and is still current and effective 3/29/2010.
From Miami, Baxter Credit Union’s 5 year or 60 month Reward Rate CD has a minimum deposit of $500 to earn APY. It has a dividend rate of 3.06% and an APY of 3.10%. To qualify for a Rewards Rate Certificate Account, you must have 2 of the following relationships: direct deposit of at least $500 per month into a credit union checking account; at least $25,000 on deposit; or a qualifying loan in good standing. This rate has been posted 3/1/2010 and is still accurate and effective 3/29/2010.
Ally Bank’s rate for the 5 year CD dominates the highest bank rate all over the Sunshine State. Their 5 year CD has an interest rate of 3.04% with an APY of 3.09%. This rate was posted 3/25/2010 and is still current and effective 3/29/2010.
