GMAC CD Rates Reviewed

It’s been a while since we last reviewed GMAC CD rates, so we here at Best CD Rates Today had to look to see what they were doing. As you probably know, GMAC Bank has changed its name to separate itself from General Motors and is now Ally Bank.

There are two types of certificates of deposit to consider when looking at a GMAC CD: Classic and No Penalty accounts. The difference between them is that the No Penalty GMAC CD can be closed with your money withdrawn without penalty, but it compensates for this advantage by having a lower annual percentage yield (APY) compared to the Classic GMAC Bank CD rates.

For our purposes here, we’re looking only at Classic GMAC Bank CD offers, which range in terms from 3 months to 5 years. We’ll start with the best CD rates today (the specials) for GMAC CD rates.

Specials
The GMAC CD specials are the 6 month term at 2.00% APY, the 12 month term at 2.49% APY, and the 3 year term at 3.00% APY. These are all good GMAC Bank CD rates and worth looking into if you’re interested in any of these rates.

Standard Rates
The standard GMAC Bank CD rates are on the rest of their offers. A 3 month term gives a 1.60% APY, a 9 month term gives 1.90% APY, and an 18 month term gives a 2.40% APY. The 2 year term is at 2.55% APY and the 4 year term is at 3.00% APY. The five year, longest-term available is at 3.50% APY.

All of these GMAC Bank CD accounts are FDIC insured to the fullest extent of the law and have no minimum account balance to open. Rates changes quickly, of course, so if any of these GMAC CD rates appeal to you, lock yours in today!
