SunTrust Bank Certificate of Deposit Rates

The SunTrust Bank certificate of deposit rates let you invest funds for a chosen period of time at a fixed interest rate, allowing you to ride out any interest rate fluctuations that may occur. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the bank also offers retail and commercial banking as well as trust services, mortgages banking, credit cards, mutual funds, insurance, equipment leasing, asset management, and securities underwriting and dealing.

SunTrust Bank has, at present, a high-yield Special CD Package offer for consumer and business accounts but is not available for public funds. A corresponding SunTrust checking account is required. The special CD package is 2 CDs combined in a package. It combines a 26 month CD & IRA CD which has an APY of 3.00% and a 49 month CD & IRA CD which has an APY of 3.00%. The minimum opening deposit for these CDs is $2000 per CD and the maximum opening deposit is $1,000,000 per CD. The balances must be split evenly between CDs in the package.

The Special CD Offers provides a competitive fixed rate and requires a minimum opening deposit of $2000.

The 10 month No Penalty CD has an APY of 0.50%. This CD lets you make a one-time withdrawal of all or a portion of your funds without an early withdrawal penalty, after the first 7 days of the initial account term only. The waiver will not be applicable to subsequent renewed term.

The 10 month Traditional CD has an APY of 0.80%. The 25 month CD and IRA CD has an APY of 1.60%. The 39 month CD and IRA CD has an APY of 2.30%.  The 59 month CD and IRA CD has an APY of 3.00%.  The 25 month CD and IRA CD has an APY of 1.60%. You will need to call a branch in your local area for the current special offer rate for the 13 month CD & IRA CD. These CD rates were posted 3/29/2010 and are still current and effective 3/31/2010.
