The best CD rates in Minneapolis, Minnesota come from a mix of credit unions and banks. Not one financial establishment has the best rate at each term. For this reason, take a look at all three establishments before deciding on which is best for you. There are some additional rates that seem to be higher, but are not verifiable.

The best CD rates for the 1 year term are from Unity One Credit Union that has been in business since 1927. Their 1 year Shared Certificate (SC) earns an APY of 1.10%. The 18 month SC earns an APY of 1.25%. The 2 year SC earns an APY of 1.40%, and the best rate is on the 3 year SC at 1.75%. The minimum deposit is $500. They also offer a 6 month SC that earns an APY of 0.90%, but the minimum deposit is $1000. These rates were current as of October 20, 2010.

TruStone Financial offers the best CD rates at the long term for investors. The 60 month CD earns an APY of 2.27%. The 48 month earns an APY of 1.71%. The 36 month CD earns an APY of 1.56%. The 24 month CD earns an APY of 1.31%. The 12 month CD earns an APY of 1.00%, and the 6 month CD earns an APY of 0.55%. These all require a minimum deposit of $500 and were current on October 20, 2010.

The Union Bank and Trust also has decent rates. All of their CDs require a minimum deposit of $10,000. The 3 year CD earns an APY of 1.75%. The 2 year CD earns an APY of 1.50%. The 18 moth CD earns an APY of 1.25%. The 1 year CD earns an APY of 1.00%, and the 6 month earns an APY of 0.75%. All of these rates were current on October 20, 2010.

These are the best CD rates in Minneapolis, Minnesota at this time that is being advertised online.

The Ally Bank Best CD Rates are from the same financial institution that was part of GMAC before General Motors filed for bankruptcy just a few years ago. The current CD rates include the High Yield CDs, No Penalty CDs and the Raise your Rate CDs.

The No Penalty CD is only an 11 month term CD that earns an APY of 1.25%. It allows the depositors the ability to withdraw the principal at any time without incurring a penalty for an early withdraw.

The Raise your Rate CD allows for the depositor to raise the fixed interest rate once during the term of the CD. This can occur if the there is a rate increase by Ally during the term of your CD. The term is 2 years and the APY that this CD earns is 1.65%.

The High Yield CD is for a 12 month term. This CD earns an APY of 1.35%. This is the highest fixed rate Ally offers when compared to rates and terms combined. There is also a 3 month CD that earns an APY of 0.74%. The 6 month CD that earns an APY of 1.10%. The 9 month CD that earns an APY of 1.09%.

As the current CD rates decrease across the county, the Dollar Savings Direct CD rates have remained steady and strong. Dollar Savings Direct is a division of Emigrant Direct Bank. Because Dollar Savings Direct is trying to attract new customers, the Dollar Savings Direct bank rates are very good.

It is puzzling why Emigrant Direct decided to open a new online bank. The Emigrant Direct Bank brand is quite strong so I would think they would want to spend their marketing dollars on that online bank. However, I do have an idea for why they opened the Dollar Savings Direct Bank. Emigrant Direct can offer higher rates through Dollar Savings Direct to attract new customers. By creating a new bank, they didn’t want to have to raise the Emigrant Direct Bank rates for its existing customers.

Dollar Savings Direct CD Rates

The 16 month CD is currently paying 4.00% APY interest rates. I think that this is the best Dollar Savings Direct CD rate to purchase if you are looking for a short term CD. In fact, it is a full pecentage point higher than the 16 month Emigrant Direct CD.

What do you have to know about the Dollar Savings Direct Certificates of Deposits?

In order to buy a Dollar Savings Direct CD you have to have a DollarSavingsDirect savings account. If you would like to read a review of the Dollar Savings Direct Savings Account, you will like this review of the Dollar Savings Direct Savings Account.

The Dollar Savings Direct 16 month CD has a minimum balance requirement of $1,000.

Interest will be compounded on a daily basis and credited to your CD on the last day of the month and at maturity

Is DollarSavingsDirect FDIC insured?

Yes. I would not buy a CD from a financial institution that is not FDIC insured.

If you are looking to invest in CDs, the 16 month Dollar Savings Direct CD has healthy 4.00% APY Dollar Savings Direct CD rates. These certificates of deposits might be a great investment vehicle for your short term savings.

In our previous article on Citibank CD rates, we discussed the Citibank 6 month CD rates. However, we wanted to focus a little more one these Citibank 6 month CDs. Citibank is one of the largest banks and CD investing is so easy when you are dealing with such a large bank.

Many people discuss the advantage of opening high interest savings accounts. In fact, most personal finance sites are filled with information about savings money with an ING Direct Orange savings account or an HSBC savings account. But, these personal finance blogs neglect the advantages on CD investing.

The current cd rates of 4.00% APY on the Citibank 6 month cd rates are a great alternative to opening a high interest savings account. Instead of earning 3.00% APY with an ING Direct Orange savings account, purchasing a citibank certificate of deposit will allow you to earn 4.00%. This is a 25% increase in your return on investment.

The main advantage of saving your money in a high yield savings account is that you can withdrawl this money very quickly. However, for a 25% increase in your ROI, CD investing may be a better option. If you can afford to not withdrawl your money for 6 months, then look into the Citibank 6 month cd rates. You will be happy with your return.

Welcome to Best CD Rates Today! Buying certificates of deposit is a great way to make more interest than a typical savings account. If you are trying to build up your savings, don’t get stuck earning a low interest rate. By subscribing to this site, you will keep up to date on the best CD rates so that you can always earn the most on your money.

Certificates of deposits are a great way to lock in high interest savings rates. CDs come in a variety of terms making them a great way to invest at different time intervals. Each bank creates their own CD term structure. One bank might have the best bank CD rates for a 12 month CD, but another bank might have the highest CD rates for 9 month CDs. This site will help you to do the cd rates comparison for the best current cd rates so that you always invest in the best bank CDs.

As the term of the CD increases, typically the banks will pay a premium CD interest rate for a longer term certificate of deposit. Bank CDs pay a fixed rate of interest during the term of the CD. This take away the risk of interest rates going down like you have with savings accounts. This locking in of CD interest makes them a great investment option.

Best CD Rates Today will keep you up to date on the best current CD rates. We hope to help you to save more money when investing in CDs. If you have any questions about CDs , please feel free to leave a comment in any article.
