This Wells Fargo CD Rates Review is about a financial institution that now includes Wachovia as part of the family. This bank has held the American consumers trust ever since the days of the 6 horse stage coach and is still a solid financial institution today.

The special CD offers at this time include the 9 month CD with an APY of 0.35% that renews at a 6 month term. The 23 month CD has a 0.90% APY that renews at a 12 month term. The 33 month CD has an APY of 1.40% that renews at a 24 month term.

The 45 month CD has an APY of 1.90% that renews as a 36 month term and the 58 month CD has an APY of 2.40% that renews as a 48 month term. Each of these special offers requires a deposit of $5000 to open an account. These special rates are only good for the initial term of the deposit and were posted on July 24, 2010.

The Standard CD rates that were posted on July 24, 2010 are as follows. The 3 month CD has an APY of 0.10%. The 6 month CD has an APY of 0.15% and the 1 year CD has an APY of 0.20%.

With each CD there is a seven day grace period at its maturity to withdraw the funds or the deposit will automatically renew at the same term unless otherwise stated.

The World Bank CD rates are not from the international financial institution that supplies leveraged loans to developing countries around the world. It is also not the World Bank Group. These CD rates would have been from the World Savings Bank.

World Savings Bank was one of the financial institutions that made a great number of sub-prime loans while the mortgage boom was underway. They required the homeowners to only pay 1.95% to 2.85% of the loan as a minimum payment.

In 2006, Wachovia bought out World Savings Bank along with all of the loans that were made. When this occurred, the minimum loan payment for homeowners was lowered to 1.5% and then to 1.0%. Wachovia continued to make these sub-prime loans until the mortgage market began to crumble in 2008.

By the end of 2008, Wachovia itself was sold to Wells Fargo which was finalized in mid 2009. Today, Wells Fargo is one of the big 4 banks in the nation.

So the great reputation that was World Saving Bank was carried forward to Wachovia and improved their reputation. This has now all been absorbed by Wells Fargo which has its rich history that is over 150 years, dating back to the stage coach.

All that remains of World Savings Bank are the sub-prime loans. There are no CD rates to speak of since the bank itself is no longer.

The last known World Bank CD Rates were exceptional at 5.76% for a 10 month CD. Unfortunately, this rate dates back to 2006 and the pre-recession times before the bubble bursted.

The current Well Fargo CD rates offers a choice of terms, at guaranteed fixed rate, and interest that is compounded daily. Wells Fargo is a diversified financial services company with operations around the globe. It is the fourth largest bank in the U.S. by assets and the third largest bank by market cap. Wells Fargo is also the second largest bank in deposits, home mortgaging servicing, and debit card.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Wells Fargo is one of the Big Four banks of the U.S. It has 6,650 retail branches, 12,260 ATMs, 276,000 employees, and over 48 million customers. It currently operates branches and ATMs under the Wells Fargo and Wachovia names.

At present, Wells Fargo has featured CDs for a minimum deposit of $5,000. The special rates are applicable to the initial term only. At maturity, the CD will automatically renew for the renewal term stated, at the interest rate and APY in effect for the CDs not subject to a Special Rate, unless the bank has notified you otherwise. The Special CD Offers are as follows. The 15 months CD has an APY of 0.55%, and renews to a 12 month term. The 21 months CD has an APY of 0.90%, and renews to a 12 month term. The 28 months CD has an APY of 1.40%, and renews to a 24 month term. The 35 months CD has an APY of 1.90%, and renews to a 24 month term.

The Standard CDs require a $2500 minimum deposit. The 3 months CD has an APY of 0.10%. The 6 months CD has an APY of 0.15%. The 1 year CD has an APY of 0.30%.

Wells Fargo Bank CD rates come in two flavors, standard CDs and Special offer featured Wells Fargo CD rates. The standard Wells Fargo CDs have awful CD rates. The majority of the certificate of deposit terms earn interest sub 2% APY. That is horrible. However, the Special offer CDs offer better CD rates.

For October, Wells Fargo is featuring three CDs. The first is the Wells Fargo 7 month CD which has an APY of 3.40%. This is a pretty good CD interest rate, but there are bank CDs with much higher rates of interest. However, if you are a Wells Fargo account holder you might be interested in investing in Wells Fargo CDs. Therefore, these 7 month CD rates might not be too bad for you. They are a lot higher than the Wells Fargo savings account interest rates.

The second Wells Fargo CD featured this month is the 14 month CD. This 14 month CD has an APY of 3.05% and requires a minimum deposit of $5,000. I much prefer the 7 month Wells Fargo CD. But, if you want to lock in 3.05% for a longer term, you might be interested in this 14 month CD.

The third Wells Fargo featured CD is the 19 month CD. This 19 month CD has a CD interest rate of 3.30% APY. These Wells Fargo CD rates are not the best CD rates, but again, if you are a Wells Fargo account holder, they might be exactly what you want to buy.
