The TD Bank best CD rates are from a financial institution that services 12 states in the northeastern portion of America. The serve 6.5 million customers and have over $160 billion in assets. The CD rates listed were posted on July 2, 2010 and were still accurate as of August 5, 2010.

The best deal of their CDs is the Step Rate CDs they offer. These do require a minimum deposit of $250 but if more is present in the account on the anniversary date, then a withdrawal can be made without any penalty. This no-penalty withdrawal period is limited to 10 days after the anniversary date only.

The 5 year Step Rate CD has an overall APY of 1.80%. For the first year the APY is 0.75%. For the second year, the APY is 1.00%. For the third year, the APY is 1.74%. For the fourth year, the APY is 2.23%, and for the fifth year, the APY is 3.20%.

The 3 year Step Rate CD has an overall APY of 1.35%. For the first year, the APY is 0.95%. For the second year, the APY is 1.14%, and for the third year, the APY is 1.93%.

For those investors that might need to make a withdrawal during the term of a CD, then there is the No Catch CD. This allows for a single withdrawal to occur within the term of the CD and no penalty will be assessed. There is the 6 month CD No Catch which has an APY of 0.45%, and the 12 month No Catch CD has an APY of 0.40%.

The basic CD is simple. No withdrawals are permitted without a penalty during the term. There is only one, the 9 month CD that has an APY of 0.75%. The minimum deposit is $250.
