It has been a little while since we did so, so we here at Best CD Rates Today thought we should have a look at the whole national picture and see which of the national CD rates are the top CD rates available right now. So here’s our roundup of the top national CD rates across the country.

For the one year term, SallieMae is on top at 1.55% annual percentage yield (APY) with no minimum deposit required to open or maintain the account. Discover Bank is close behind at 1.50% APY with a $2,500 minimum deposit and Ally Bank is on their heels at 1.49% APY with no minimum deposit required. AuroraBank and Woodlands Commercial Bank also have 1.49% APY offers with a $1,000 and $2,500 minimum deposit required (respectively). These are all well above the national average at 0.69% APY.

Looking at a 3-year term for the top CD rates, we see New Dominion DIRECT on top at 2.50% APY with a $3,000 minimum deposit requirement. SallieMae then comes next at 2.40% APY with no deposit minimum followed by Ally Bank at 2.29% APY with no deposit minimum.

Finally, the 5-year term has several top national CD rates starting with Astoria Federal Savings at 3.05% APY with a $500 minimum deposit requirement. Several banks have a 3.0% APY including USAA and Stonebridge Bank with a $1,000 and $500 minimum deposit requirement, respectively. Discover Bank and SalleMae both also have 3.0% APY offers at $2,500 and $0 minimum deposit required (respectively). Ally Bank has a 2.94% APY with no minimum deposit requirement to bring up the third place.
